What happens when you hire a web design studio? Process, payments and ownership

A website project with Black Track runs in clear stages, from your first message to launch and handover, with your approval at each step. Here is exactly what happens, what you need to provide, and what you own at the end.

Short answer

You send a brief, we agree the scope and send a written quotation, you pay a 50% advance, we design and build on a private staging link, you review and request revisions, you pay 40% at staging review, and after the final 10% we launch on your domain and hand everything over. Defects in the delivered scope are fixed free for 30 days.

The process, step by step

  1. Enquiry. You share a few details through the form or WhatsApp. We reply with questions about your goals, pages and content.
  2. Scope and quotation. We agree what the site needs, by message or a short call, and send a written quotation with the price, deliverables, exclusions, timeline and payment milestones.
  3. Advance and content. Work starts when you approve the scope and pay the 50% advance. You send your copy, logo, photos and contact details.
  4. Structure and direction. We plan the sitemap, page outlines and visual direction, and you approve them before anything is built.
  5. Build and test. We build the site on a private staging link and test it on phones, keyboards and current browsers.
  6. Review and revisions. You review the staging site and send consolidated feedback in the revision rounds your package includes. The 40% milestone is due when staging is ready for review.
  7. Launch and handover. After the final 10%, we deploy to your domain, set up search console access on your accounts and document every account you own.
  8. After launch. Defects in the delivered scope are fixed free for 30 days. Hosting is included for the first 6 months for eligible static sites.

What you need to provide

  • Final text for each page (or ask us to quote for copywriting)
  • Your logo, brand colours and any brand guidelines
  • Photos and videos you own or have licensed
  • Contact details, social links and business information to publish
  • Access to your domain registrar, or we help you buy the domain in your own name

Timelines start once the advance, written scope approval and these materials are in. Late content or feedback moves the launch date.

How revisions work

A revision round is one consolidated list of feedback on the agreed design. Launch and Business include two rounds; Growth and Signature Immersive include three. New pages, new features or a change of approved direction are not revisions; they are quoted before any work begins, so there are no surprise invoices.

What you own at the end

  • Your domain, in a registrar account you control wherever possible
  • The agreed website deliverables, handed over after the final payment
  • Your analytics and search console properties, set up on your own accounts
  • Documentation of every account, so you are never locked in

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay everything up front?

No. Payment is split into 50% to start, 40% when the staging site is ready for review and 10% before launch and handover.

Can I see the website before it goes live?

Yes. Every site is built on a private staging link that you review before launch.

What happens after the 6 months of hosting?

Managed static hosting renews annually at the rate shown on the pricing page for your market, or we hand over a documented route if you prefer to manage hosting yourself.

What if something breaks after launch?

Defects in the delivered scope are fixed free for 30 days after launch. New features and changes outside the specification are quoted separately.
